String Labelling

The guitar strings are labelled 1-6 from the thinnest, highest sounding string up to the thickest, lowest sounding string. The strings are also labelled E, A, D, G, B, and E because of the notes each one is tuned to. Because both the lowest and highest sounding strings are tuned to E we refer to them as the 'low E-string' and the 'high E-string'. You may see the high E-string labelled with a lowercase 'e' to distinguish it from the low E-string.
